A Day with the Rytting Family | Film + Photo Session

When I was a little girl, one of my favorite books was "The Secret Garden" by Frances Hodgson Burnett.  My imagination captured by the idea of something magical, hidden away and special.  A garden, missed and forgotten... but so very beautiful.

On my first visit to the Rytting home, their beautiful backyard garden immediately caught my eye.  It reminded me of a secret garden, complete with a serene fountain, twinkle lights, beautifully wild flowers planted by Emily, and the most wonderful hammock.

Making films for families is such a special thing for me because I get the opportunity to show families what they might not see.  Parenting requires so much, takes so much, demands all of ourselves and sometimes we get so knee deep in the thick of it we don't see the beauty that is so readily around us.  Amidst the busy we miss the beauty...

My hope is that my films show parents that there is SO MUCH beauty in their lives.

Sometimes that beauty is in the details...

Emily braiding Avery's hair...

Or nursing your last baby...

Sometimes it is Dad’s strong shoulder...

Sometimes it's in the laughter, on a hammock, with your silly siblings.

Sometimes that beauty is in the cheeks & drool of a little baby.

And sometimes there is beauty in the quiet moments...

And the loud ones....

In my time with the Emily & Christian I saw SO MUCH BEAUTY, y’all.  A family that loves each other DEEPLY.  A faith that grounds all that they do.  Siblings that dote on each other... (most of the time)... :)

Walking into their home and experiencing their lives for a few brief hours was like walking into a secret garden, full of so many hidden treasures.

I hope that the film & photos show the beauty that I saw.  Because sometimes, you just need someone to show you what you might have missed.  Emily & Christian, your lives are beautiful... thank you for allowing me the honor of telling your beautiful story!
